Appointments System
Non-urgent advice: Request an appointment
Before you contact us, please consider whether Self Help and Support or other options, such as Pharmacy First treatment, the Minor Eye Conditions Service or self-referral for Physiotherapy, are more suitable for your needs.
Request an appointment / register an administrative query online click here. Registered patients only.
The online form is only open when the practice is open and in order to safely monitor the online form responses, it is turned off between 11.30am and 1.30pm daily and at 5pm. You will receive a response to your query on the same working day as you submit it.
If you think that you are likely to require a urgent appointment on the same day that you are contacting us, we would ask that you submit the online form in the morning, as soon as possible after we open at 8am.
We communicate via phone, video call, email and at the surgery. You can phone us on 01223 651020, Monday to Friday.

Accurx is a secure digital tool that streamlines appointment requests and communication with your surgery. By using Accurx, you provide essential information that allows doctors to review your case and prioritise your needs before the consultation. This helps allocate the right staff—such as nurses, pharmacists, or doctors—more effectively, reducing wasted appointments and ensuring efficient use of resources. Accurx enhances your healthcare experience by making appointment scheduling and communication more efficient and tailored to your needs.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a nurse rather than a doctor. Our nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly. Our nurses are best placed to answer travel vaccine queries, most minor illness and minor injuries and will take phone call consultations.
Extended Access
We are pleased to announce the start of our Extended Hours Service. GP and Nurse appointments will be offered Sat 08:00 - 20:00 and Sun 08:00 - 14:00 in addition to weekday evenings 18:00 - 22:00.
The service is run by our local GP Network. CGPN is a collaboration of Cambridgeshire Practices formed to enable us to offer our patients greater choice and extended practice hours. This service operates from:
Nuffield Road Medical Centre, 10 Pippin Dr, Cambridge CB4 1GL
To book an appointment please call the practice and ask reception.
Change or Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
NHS app or telephone the Practice on 01223 651020. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Training Practice
Because we are a training practice, we sometimes have Cambridge University Medical Students sitting in with the doctors. The receptionist will let you know if this is so. If you do not wish the students to attend your consultation, please say.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:00.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
There are also other services available to help ill people remain in their own home. Sometimes it is more appropriate to use one of these services rather than see a doctor although a doctor would arrange this for you.
